Big Box Office for '300' Bodes Well for 'Watchmen' Fans

Early reports out of Hollywood had Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel '300' topping the $50 million mark. Apparently, those reports were too humble. '300' – which is sans stars and might have the worst title ever – is going to gross $70 million-plus, most ever for a March opening.

While I'll admit I don't have a burning desire to see '300', I'm a big fan of Snyder's take on DAWN OF THE DEAD and was intrigued that the largely unheralded director was being given the reins to Alan Moore's epic work 'The Watchmen.' Though no casting has been announced, I'm hoping the boffo box office for '300' gets Snyder the stars and budget to make an adaptation of that comic classic work.
