Next Superhero Adaptation? Looks Like TEEN TITANS

Superherohype.com (courtesy of Hollywood Reporter) is reporting that DC Comics has set into motion a big-screen adaptation of the comic title THE TEEN TITANS. A spin-off of A-list superheroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Green Arrow, the Titans (Robin/Nightwing, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wondergirl and Speedy) have experienced renewed interest in recent years thanks to an updated, more mature version of the once adolescent-oriented comic book and a popular Cartoon Network series that showcased the team's tales in a manga-influenced style.

It also doesn't hurt that superheroes are proving to be boffo at the box office (witness SPIDER-MAN 3's crazy numbers) and are snagging critical raves for tv shows like NBC's HEROES.

Mark Verheiden, who has worked on such high profile genre programs as SMALLVILLE and the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA has been tapped to write the screenplay.
