Don't get me wrong. I loved GRINDHOUSE and was devestated by the commercial failure of the inspired double bill. But the idea of a direct-to-video GRINDHOUSE sequel, without Tarantino leaves me with mixed emotions.
Yes, I would love to see full-blown features centered around Machete and The Babysitter Twins, but a large part of what made GRINDHOUSE a thrill was sitting in a huge theater watching it on the big screen.
I can watch all kinds of direct-to-video junque of all types and quality. Part of me would rather see Rodriguez inject that GRINDHOUSE sensibility into big budget pics like his upcoming BARBARELLA re-boot.
