Maybe I'm just an overly optimistic idealist but I'm willing to put aside the disappointment of the last two Indiana Jones films, everything George Lucas has made since the first half hour of RETURN OF THE JEDI, and even Steven Spielberg's recent output (the woeful WAR OF THE WORLDS and boring MUNICH anyone?).
Why? Because reports are that Indiana Jones is officially back and will be the next project for Spielberg, Lucas and star Harrison Ford (who will be 66 when the project is released in the spring of 2008).
Of course, this is one of those projects I'll truly believe when the cameras start rolling. Four or five years ago there was much hand wringing and teeth gnashing when the fourth Indiana Jones film selected the same release date as a little film called BATMAN BEGINS. Ironically, the next installment in that franchise – which begins shooting shortly under the title THE DARK KNIGHT – will be released in the summer of 2008, too.
